About the Poet

I was born in Australia and I’m an eclectic pudding of genes ranging from German, Ukrainian, English, Irish, Belgian and Italian in the mix.

I write poetry and stories and I’m procrastinating like mad over a half-written novel about my grandmother’s life in Germany during WWII and her subsequent leaving of her homeland for the far-off planet Australia.

I also love art – looking at others’ and making it – but mostly I’m a metalsmith, ESL teacher, work in my local tourist office, bilingual and a translator and ongoing student of all things Italiano.

In August 2012 I skipped out of a life half-lived in Australia to come to the Monte Amiata region in Southern Tuscany and haven’t looked back…although the northern hemisphere winter is a whole other thing. Brrr. conducive to writing poetry.

I also make jewellery, which you can see at www.alimatteini.com and which I blog about, along with art and creative endeavours, at MatteiniAli.wordpress.com

And, ah, here we come to the boring stuff I know, but…Unless reblogged with permission, all content on this website – poetry, photography, illustration – has been created by me and is protected by copyright. I’d love you to make use of what I create, but please ask me first and give credit where credit is due.

Un grande abbraccio,

Grazie 🙂
