a gift I thought I’d killed with neglect
surprised me with a stem shot lightward
bowed it
studded it over several days
with seven dragon heads
topaz tongued
pearl maned
___
poems, prose and pathways

Che bellezza! One of my best friends had an orchid nursery. Her comment, “Most people mollycoddle them too much and they don’t flower again”. So mine is out under the tree, not exactly neglected but outside where it belongs. Fingers crossed for its future.

I swing between he mollycoddle and downright neglect. Somewhere between those extremes I’m doing something right (she says, watching the wilty heads drop from on high…) xx
