L’Anima Poetica – Warsan Shire

I’m currently devouring Warsan’s collection Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth (NB: For Women Who Are Difficult to Love is not  part of this collection).

Her poems are elegant in their simplicity; the stories assail from the spaces between her language.

She threads me through the seed of my heart with lines that return again and again.

For Women Who Are Difficult to Love

This visual performance was my first experience of Warsan’s poetry.

Yes, I’ve been reading more of her this evening and watching further videos on YouTube – some lovely work.

Powerful poet… I loved the video… Couldn’t avoid thinking of Pablo Neruda when I listened to the poem.
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Aquileana 😀
