12 Degrees & Skiving

what began as year-long challenge has become perpetual until further notice

I am well past the mark where
life became normal
didn’t see it happen
though I hawked eyes propped
and like sleep it glided in
struck from behind like an owl
or the flu

and so all the changes stacked
back to the start layered crazy
forge folded oak rings thick chips of paint
at the centre was a first thought
that’s pinpointable
the hammer’s iron yell
spark shower shock spring upward
into life action form impulse
the mad madness of love
is a chemically imbalanced brain
the smallest of discrepancies taken
as a slight salted against the soul

skittery gut wings belly swoops
anneal now as our lives deepen
amalgam flow dual tone
one into the other over and under
flipping back through that old self
from this side
I see her face through crazed glass
the features not yet her own
still in the hands
of the assembly team
fire, light and future

How powerful. I loved the idea of looking into the future and the poetic image: amalgam flow dual tone, flipping back through that old self
    Nice one, as always.
    Best wishes, Aquileana 😛
