12 Degrees & Skiving

what began as year-long challenge has become perpetual until further notice

NaPoWriMo • 30 April • Rabbit / Coniglio

hollow boned, feather furred, strange then
the troposphere was not granted you,

yours is stretched flight over field and brake
belly skimming sweet dewed blades

timorous, tremulous ears sleeked flat to back’s bow
in resting moments, pink eyed death reflected

hurtles sidelong or drops fletched from cobalt
a blow certainly but the perfect roar could burst you from your life

so ready to die or run are you
or love into Fibonacci numbers

~ ~ ~

gli ossi vuoti, piume pelame, strano quindi
la troposfera non sei stato concesso,

il tuo è il volo allungato sopra il campo e la fratta
la pancia screma le lame dell’erba dolci e imperlata

timorosi, tremanti, orecchie lisciate piatte all’arco di schiena
nei momenti di riposo, gli occhi rosa di morte riflettono

tralice si schianta o cadute impennate dal cobalto
un colpo sicuramente, ma anche il boato perfetto potrebbe fenderti dalla tua vita

così pronto sei a morire o fuggire
o amore dentro i numeri di Fibonacci

We had three rabbits once and because we live in the hills on sheet rock we were able to let them run free with the chickens and the ducks. They were beautiful…Angela

they are lovely; a weightless bundle of furry nerves! The kittens are so soft the fingers lack the sensitivity to feel their fur.

…”timorous, tremulous ears sleeked flat to back’s bow…” this is incredible, I love this poem, and this is definitely my favorite line! ;^)
