Keels and Blueprints
The way we chose, this time around, just to
sway the drab promise. Whim makes mystery,
leaves the mind a serendipitous coup –
and leaves me love’s deep-set history.
I’d set to stargaze north but pitched away,
was netted midfall by the boundless blue –
I lost my life’s draft to the sea that day.
Fresh courses, like barques, at present imbue
fragments of least expectance. Alighting,
the dream beats quick and the reverie’s now –
I’m not quite following, but delighting
in the digressive carving of my prow.
A Sestet is composed of six lines, usually found at the end of a Petrarchan sonnet. The usual ten syllables per line and rhyme scheme is usually a, b, a, b, c, c. I’ve ‘recycled’ an existing sonnet into two sestets and have kept with the rhyme scheme of a, b, a, b, c, b.
